Justin Timberlake – Suit and Tie [DJ Smu’s No Rap Edit]

Justin-Timberlake-Suit-and-Tie

Here’s a no Rap Edit of Justin Timberlake’s Comeback Single produced by Timbaland.
For the record: I like the Hov Verse. I just thought i make this for people who don’t appreciate Rap Music as much as i do or for a house party.

Rest in Peace Guru (1st Year Anniversary) + DJ Premier Tribute Mix

Rest in Peace Keith “Guru” Elam,17th July 1961 – 19th April 2010
“They say it’s lonely at the top but whatever you do,you always gotta watch Motherfuckers around you” – Guru (Moment Of Truth,Moment Of Truth LP,1998)

Today is one of the saddest days in Hip Hop (after Proof’s Death).
One Year ago,the legendary Gang Starr MC Guru passed away after suffering a Heartattack and then falling into a coma after surgery.
The Hip Hop heads who have grown up with his and Premier’s music, like me,were super shocked about his death and still can’t realise that he’s gone.
Since it’s the 1st Year Anniversary i thought i re-post the Guru Tribute Salute that DJ Premier has mixed to pay homage to his late friend and partner.
But instead of having Premier Tags all over the original production tracks i decided to take some time off and add the original untagged Joints to that mix.
I kept the talking bits just like on the original because you can hear some history about Guru;who founded Gangstarr back in the day and much more.
Panchi,Keeblr,Gordon & Milly D are in the studio with Premier to keep the show rollin’

Rest In Peace Nate Dogg (Open Letter)

R.I.P. Nathaniel Dwayne Hale (August 19, 1969 – March 15, 2011)

When i woke up this morning i saw people talking about Nate Dogg’s Death.Of course i first thought it was a sick joke that somebody made up (You know what the internet is like these days). But when i read further on i saw Snoop Dogg talking about it too so i knew it was serious.

The sad thing is we lost another great Hip Hop/Singer Artist way too early.
When News came out that he suffered from 2 strokes in the last 3-4 years my hopes – that he’d ever made a comeback to the music bizz – were kinda gone from one moment to the next.

The great thing about Nate Dogg was his unique Voice that made every hook that he sung/rapped unique in any way.

He was involved in so many records from Dr.Dre’s “The Chronic” to Mobb Deep’s last LP on G-Unit Records and so many more,so it was fair that the fans called him “the real Captain Hook” because he was THE hook man in Hip Hop.

I grew up with his music so it’s kinda hard to realise that he’s gone….
From a positive note though: We never know how much pain he was suffering from after those 2 strokes,so maybe it’s good for himself, his close friends and family that he doesn’t have to suffer no more.

My condolences go to his Family,Warren G,Snoop Dogg,The DPG and many other people who were very close to this man.

Nate,Rest in Peace! Your Voice and your Music won’t be forgotten to me.Even though i’d loved to see you on some sort of a “Next Episode” Record on Detox maybe.

Emilio Rojas & XV Featuring Skylar Grey – Words I Never Said [Smu Mix]

Fresh of dropping his “Life Without Shame” Mixtape with Green Lantern,Emilio Rojas decided to take on Lupe Fiasco’s controversial (but dope) “Words I Never Said” to send Love to the people in Japan and to speak on other stuff aswell.
For the Smu mix he get’s joined to by XV aka Vizzy who also blasts off with his own rant on this record so be sure to hear some real talk on it.
Mrs. Skylar Grey is on the hook like on the original.

Redman speaking on Def Jam

Does the headline remind you of something? You’re not wrong because it wasn’t even a month ago when Nas posted his “polite” E-Mail to the Def Jam Executives about his “Lost Tapes 2” Project.

Now Redman speaks on the current state of Def Jam but not as harsh as Mr.Jones or Shyne did.

“Well [now], Def Jam are not leaders. They’re not leaders plain and simple, because it’s changed. They’re not leaders like they used to be. In the ’90′s they were leaders. They were the label that you considered the mechanics of hip-hop; they’re under the car. They were the ones under the car getting greasy, getting dirty, fixing that muffler that drags when everybody loved that sh*t and was following it. Now they’re playing the follower. They’re followers; they’re not building artists no more like they should. And that’s just the game. It’s not they fault. We got into the Internet world and sh*t is moving fast and came so fast and came so quick that labels couldn’t exist, but still they got the money and they’re a company. They’re supposed to adjust. I think they need to get that going. Being a label, being on top.Yeah they have to play catch up. They have to catch up now. The way the labels were ran back then in the ’90′s. We had tapes and even from studio equipment a lot of people weren’t prepared for that, like getting rid of their 24 track reel tapes. So yes, it came up quick on a lot of labels with this viral [thing] and [now] you’re able to do songs in the comforts of your own home. They shutting studios down, you can get known through Facebook or whatever. You don’t have to wait for a label to put you out now, so yes I think the labels are shut down a little bit and sizing down a lot.”

Hmm i’m not even surprised about it since they haven’t even made the effort in promoting his upcomming Album “Reggie” which drops this comming Tuesday (December 7th).You didn’t know? Blame Def Jam and their shitty promo team

All i can say is Def Jam Syndrome and dear Def Jam execs: Get your shit straight!

Real Talk: Nas’ Email to the Def Jam executives

Last month (on his birthday to be exact) Nas announced that “Lost Tapes 2” will come out some time really soon. But now the people at LefsetzLetter got “hands” on an E-Mail from Nas writing to the Def Jam Executives. I don’t want to waste your time so here is the E-Mail

———————–

From: Nas
To: LA Reid, Steve Bartels, Steve Gawley, Michael Seltzer, Joseph Borrino, Chris Hicks
Subject: PUT MY SHIT OUT!

Peace to all,

With all do respect to you all, Nas is NOBODY’s slave. This is not the 1800′s, respect me and I will respect you.

I won’t even tap dance around in an email, I will get right into it. People connect to the Artist @ the end of the day, they don’t connect with the executives. Honestly, nobody even cares what label puts out a great record, they care about who recorded it. Yet time and time again its the executives who always stand in the way of a creative artist’s dream and aspirations. You don’t help draw the truth from my deepest and most inner soul, you don’t even do a great job @ selling it. The #1 problem with DEF JAM is pretty simple and obvious, the executives think they are the stars. You aren’t…. not even close. As a matter of fact, you wish you were, but it didn’t work out so you took a desk job. To the consumer, I COME FIRST. Stop trying to deprive them! I have a fan base that dies for my music and a RAP label that doesn’t understand RAP. Pretty fucked up situation

This isn’t the 90′s though. Beefing with record labels is so 15 years ago. @ this point I just need you all to be very clear where I stand and how I feel about “my label.” I could go on twitter or hot 97 tomorrow and get 100,000 protesters @ your building but I choose to walk my own path my own way because since day one I have been my own man. I did business with Tommy Mottola and Donnie Einer, two of the most psycho dudes this business ever created. I worked well with them for one major reason……. they believed in me. The didn’t give a fuck about what any radio station or magazine said….those dudes had me.

Lost Tapes is a movement and a very important set up piece for my career as it stands. I started this over 5 years ago @ Columbia and nobody knew what it was or what it did but the label put it out as an LP and the fans went crazy for it and I single handlely built a new brand of rap albums. It’s smart and after 5 years it’s still a head of the game. This feels great and you not feeling what I’m feeling is disturbing. Don’t get in the way of my creativity. We are aligned with the stars here, this is a movement. There is a thing called KARMA that comes to haunt you when you tamper with the aligning stars. WE ARE GIVING THE PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT. Stop throwing dog shit on a MAGICAL moment.

You don’t get another Nas recording that doesn’t count against my deal….PERIOD! Keep your bullshit $200,000.00 fund. Open the REAL budget. This is a New York pioneers ALBUM, there ain’t many of us. I am ready to drop in the 4th quarter. You don’t even have shit coming out! Stop being your own worst enemy. Let’s get money!

-N.Jones

Harsh words from one of my favourite MC’s of all time. I wonder if the execs at Def Jam are pleased about this E-Mail. But you gotta admit that Nas has balls to speak up for himself and against another album he doesn’t want to do and feels uncomfortable with.

Keep Your Head up Nas! I feel you on that totally. You wanna give the Fans the music you want them to hear. I wish more artists would do that nowadays….
